Jan van de Stool “tours” Australia as an inspirational speaker with Helen (her tea-lady and pianist) and under the guise of healing, flogs her DVDs, Books and CDs with hilarious monotony, and provides ridiculous inspiration in the form of audience exercises that result in side-splitting humour.
The fact that Jan is a Dutch-Australian also provides for some of the funniest moments in her work.Jan is the creation of Australian music theatre star Queenie van de Zandt and has gained a cult following as a result of her satirical hit show I Get The Music In You - An Evening with Jan van de Stool at Festivals and Theatres around Australia.
Queenie was recently seen in Channel 7's comedy, "Let Loose Live", and has been nominated for Helpmann, Green Room and Sydney Theatre Awards for her work in musical theatre productions including The Full Monty, Oliver!, Cabaret, Les Miserables and The Boy From Oz.
Like Jan, Queenie also hails from Holland and its a little known fact that as a teenager she had one of her first forays into performing as part of a Dutch Marching Girl Troupe!
Jan van de Stool's bizarre and wonderful humour will leave your audience laughing till they cry and screaming for more.
"Jan van de Stool, MC-ed our high profile media and program launch and had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand. She tailored her script to suit our particular event and had the whole audience, media and even the [Victorian] Minister for the Arts and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne joining in doing "interpretive movement" to Wind Beneath My Wings! She went way beyond expectations and was a key factor to Melbourne Fringe delivering the most talked about Festival Launch ever."
Elena Vereker, Melbourne Fringe Festival
“Queenie (as Jan) was able to focus the group of 70 to work together as a unit on 8 fairly simple tasks and made it fun! She made the event a success by weaving light wit into the session. Using humour and "dance" she encouraged even the timid in the group to break out of their comfort zone and be silly and innovative.”
Augarette Malki, Coordinator Statutory Planning, City Of Stonnington
"You shouldn't miss it - has her audiences rolling in the aisles - Jan van de Stool is surely destined to become one of our great comic creations. Watching her develop and grow is amazing. It must have been a bit like that when Mrs Edna Everage first picked up her handbag"
Diana Simmonds, Sunday Telegraph
"Effortless character changes, constant stream of laughs - Van de Zandt is both a fine actress and a powerful singer."
