Avatar is a fiery guitar driven ensemble that was formed late in 2003. The combination of two nylon string guitars allows an emphasis on repertoire diversity, drawing upon such broad styles as tango, samba, calypso, jazz and more.
Guitarists, Nick Freer and Glenn Gannon both are highly talented and have extensive experience playing both in Australia as well as internationally and with different groups and artists.
Nick having performed with Julie O Hara, Peter Knight, The Orlando Trio, GoneBanda, Bossa Nova Duo, Sugarbeat, the Marinucci Trio and Captain Marvellous.
Glen having performed with Bob Sedergreen, David Jones, Darryn Farrugia, Tim Davies, Linda Cable, Nina Ferro, John Foreman and John St. Peeters, and has been a member of bands Adoration on the Gospel Train, Australian Shania Twain Show, Peter Sullivan Big Band and the Beven Addinsal Group.
Avatar can step up to perform in a concert environment, at festivals and jazz venues, or can supply a sublime unobtrusive background over which any corporate function or event will flow.
Exploring the high end of guitar improvisation through each of these styles Avatar is expandable from duo format upwards.
